Description

Children's Heart Warmer is knitted from the bottom up. Leave the stitches for the back neck on hold and continue knitting straight across each shoulder on the front piece. Shape the neckline at the front by increasing stitches, then join the two halves together. Knit the neckband in the round. Pick up stitches along the side edges of the front piece for the side straps, knit the straps, and sew them to the back piece.

Age groups: 1 (2–3) 4–5 (6–7) 8–9 (10–11) 12 (13–14) 15–16 years old.

Child's chest circumference: 46 (53) 59 (64) 67 (71) 76 (80) 83 cm. Measure around the chest, under the arms. The age is a guideline.

Dimensions:

Calculated width per panel: approx. 35 (35) 40 (40) 45 (45) 50 (50) 50 cm; calculate based on the stitch ratio in stockinette stitch.

Length to the shoulder: 35 (39) 43 (47) 51 (55) 57 (60) 63 cm, including the bottom hem and excluding the neckline.

Armhole depth to the top of the side band: 16 (17) 18 (19) 20 (21) 22 (23) 24 cm.

Gauge: 17 stitches × 26 needles = 10 × 10 cm in stockinette stitch on 5 mm needles, after washing and drying flat.

Yarn usage:
Baby Alpaca Merino Wool by MosterMoster (50 g = 130 m).

Supplies:
5 mm circular knitting needles for back-and-forth knitting; a suitable circular knitting needle or the magic loop method for the neckband. Stitch holders, 8 removable markers for the side bands, 1 marker for the beginning of the round, and a darning needle.

Yarn usage and needle size are guidelines and depend on your personal stitch ratio. Therefore, always knit a swatch before you begin.
