Description

Heart Warmer for Children is worked from the bottom up. Place the back neck stitches on hold and continue directly over each shoulder to work the front. Shape the front neckline with increases, then join the two halves. Work the neckband in the round. Pick up stitches along the front side edges for the side tabs, work the tabs, and sew them to the back.

Sizes: 1 (2–3) 4–5 (6–7) 8–9 (10–11) 12 (13–14) 15–16 years.

Child’s chest circumference: 46 (53) 59 (64) 67 (71) 76 (80) 83 cm [18.1 (20.9) 23.2 (25.2) 26.4 (28) 29.9 (31.5) 32.7 in]. Measure around the chest below the underarms. Ages are for reference only.

Measurements:

Calculated width per panel: approximately 35 (35) 40 (40) 45 (45) 50 (50) 50 cm [13.8 (13.8) 15.7 (15.7) 17.7 (17.7) 19.7 (19.7) 19.7 in], based on the stockinette stitch gauge.

Gauge: 17 stitches × 26 rows = 10 × 10 cm [approximately 4 × 4 in] in stockinette stitch on 5 mm (US 8) needles, after washing and drying flat.

Yarn requirements:
Baby Alpaca Merino Wool by MosterMoster (50 g [1.76 oz] = 130 m [approximately 142 yd]).

Needles and accessories:
5 mm (US 8) circular needle for working flat; a suitable circular needle or the magic loop method for the neckband. Stitch holders, 8 removable markers for the side tabs, 1 beginning-of-round marker, and a yarn needle.
